Travel and Tourism Consumption Trend Survey, July-September 2016 (preliminary report)

1. Japanese domestic travel consumption
--Japanese domestic travel consumption was 6.2065 trillion yen, an increase of 5.0% from the same quarter of the previous year.
--Within that:
-4.8808 trillion yen was from overnight travel, an increase of 2.7% from the same quarter of the previous year, and
-1.3258 trillion yen was from day trips, an increase of 14.1% from the same quarter of the previous year
--Within that:

2. Total number of Japanese travelers
--The total number of Japanese travelers was 183.19 million (an increase of 5.6% from the same quarter of the previous year).
--Within that number:
-96.1 million people made overnight trips (an increase of 1.6% from the same quarter of the previous year) and
-87.09 million people made day trips (an increase of 10.4% from the same quarter of
the previous year)
