3.1 Collaborative creation with local communities through development of high-quality port infrastructures

• Contributing to creating local employment for assuring income and developing the economy by proposing an "Industry-Oriented Port Development" that promotes industry and port development in waterfront area in an integrated manner.
• Disseminating port technical standards and promoting the formulation of port master plans to support the development of soft-infrastructures and improving technological capabilities of partner countries.
• Promoting Japanese standards and international standardization of specifications through international organizations such as PIANC.
• Promoting the spread of Port EDI Systems for computerizing information transmissions related to port logistics in ASEAN regions, improving logistical efficiency and reducing its costs.
• Building and expanding good relationships between Japan and ASEAN and Oceania countries through the activities of the JICA Port Alumni, consisting of key persons in the port and harbor fields of the ASEAN and Oceania countries who have completed JICA port-related training courses or who have been involved in JICA projects.
